Pioneering Integrated Movement Therapy through pilates & physio in London.
Our body’s movement is not something we consider too much, rather it is something we simply do. These processes are largely subconscious; the way we walk, run and generally navigate our bodies are typically undeliberate actions – we do not choose our gait, nor research how to align our ankle, knee and hip joints when climbing stairs, for example, we just do it. Over time, our muscles and bones develop around these movements and inform our patterning. Some of these patterns will be perfectly normal and others maladaptive – those small “niggles” we experience day to day may slowly worsen over a long period of time until they have a far greater negative, and even debilitating, impact on our physical health.
In Marc’s considerable experience, these, what are called ‘insidious onset’, cases may be attributed to either this movement patterning, the body’s alignment or a combination of the two. PHOENIX offers the expertise to identify these issues and rehabilitate them so that the subconscious is made conscious in a process of relearning and reforming. It is a complete transformation in terms of how you negotiate yourself in and out of movement, align yourself posturally and, ultimately, develop an understanding of exactly how to work with your individual body.
Director of PHOENIX Pilates & Physio London
Marc’s own experience with Clinical Pilates and Physio began when, as a classical ballet dancer, these treatments became essential for both the injuries he sustained and the maintenance of his physical health in such a demanding career. In fact, it was because of these methods of rehabilitation that Marc was able to avoid having to undergo his own surgeries. Marc would eventually begin, alongside his tenure in the ballet company, to train as a Clinical Pilates Instructor, initially working with other dancers and athletes.
Today, he has nearly two decades of experience in the field and has achieved certifications with both BASI International and several more with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute while also working in some of the best clinics and studios in both Cape Town and London. Throughout this time, he has acquired a vast amount of knowledge and experience having overseen an array of cases for which he is now not only a specialist, but has also been able to preempt what may otherwise require surgery and provide the necessary treatment for which medicine may not always be the most effective with his unique, Pilates informed, methods of rehabilitation.
It is this level of experience in tandem with his singular understanding of the body and its individual movement patterning that has made Marc so adept at treating a plethora of concerns while strengthening and transforming them into their optimal physical condition.

REAL LIFE STORIES
“I was referred to Marc two years ago, when I was barely able to walk up or down stairs. A twisted knee and trapped nerve in my back caused shooting pain down my leg throughout the day. A historic frozen shoulder had never recovered its mobility despite seeing a physio. My GP gave me pain killers, the physio sessions solved nothing. Normal exercise was not possible.
Within a couple of sessions with Marc the trapped nerve no longer irritated. I now run up and down stairs, ride my bike, can reengage in active sport and have a mobile shoulder – all without the need for surgery.
Marc’s extraordinary knowledge of the body and genuine passion for finding a tailor-made solution for the individual is exceptional. He is patient, un- judgemental and supportive.
I would not hesitate to recommend his practice however big or small your problem.”
